DESCRI​PTION: Manage Safety projects, training, assigned safety programs and basic ergonomic evaluations. Responsible for the management and development of project scope, budget, schedule and resource requirements. Independently, manage several concurrent projects, assignments and activities. Lead company safety programs including SMITH System driving, AED program, safety training and other programs assigned. Provide health and safety guidance to internal and external stakeholders/customers.

(1) POSITION TITLE: Industrial Hygienist Field Technician
LOCATION: US-CA-Irvine
DESCRIPTION: The Vertex Companies, Inc. (VERTEX) is looking for an individual to join the Industrial Hygiene & Building Sciences team for our Irvine, CA office. We are seeking industrial hygienists experienced and certified in Asbestos and Mold sampling and mitigation management. Core Responsibilities include: Oversee and review Asbestos/Mold/Indoor Air Quality claim related documents; Conduct/Direct field investigations activities, including asbestos sampling, mold evaluations, water intrusion and indoor air quality; Asbestos, Lead-in-Paint, Regulated Materials/Universal Waste, Mold, and Water Intrusion; Asbestos abatement oversight and air monitoring; Collect indoor air samples; Analyze laboratory and engineering data; Write claim review and summary reports for senior review; Represent VERTEX to the client in a professional manner; Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities for project; Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans for the site where required; Make employee safety a priority both in- house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy. Bachelor’s degree in a Science-related field, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related environmental field. Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in technical activities directly related to asbestos, mold and industrial hygiene-related activities, including report writing.


(2) POSITION TITLE: Asbestos Coordinator/Division Manager
LOCATION: US-CA-Irvine
DESCRIPTION: The Vertex Companies, Inc. (VERTEX) is looking for an individual to join the Industrial Hygiene & Building Sciences team for our Irvine, CA office.  We are seeking industrial hygienists experienced and certified in Asbestos and Mold sampling and mitigation management. Company: Huntington Ingalls Industries – HII San Diego Shipyard (2)

(1) POSITION TITLE: Industrial Hygienist (19-043)

DESCRIPTION: Candidate will create and execute studies to monitor and assess employees’ exposure to health risks, and measure effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies, and procedures.  Candidate will advise and collaborate with management to resolve occupation health issues and will maintain current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation. In addition, candidate will advise and collaborate with management to resolve occupations health issues and will propose/lead implementation of programs to protect employee health to include ergonomics. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on a regular basis and must be able to maneuver up and down stairs/ladder located inside various ships.  Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field approved by the ABIH certification board. In addition, the candidate must have an Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Certification or must be eligible to take the exam at hire date.

(2) POSITION TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety Manager (19-044)

DESCRIPTION: Candidate will facilitate the assurance of Company compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations by monitoring Company activities and performing or recommending actions to achieve compliance.  Various of these activities include: monitoring emissions to water, air, sewers, etc., and prepare required reports for various agencies, prepare routine applications for permits requires by environmental and government agencies for activities covered by environmental laws and regulations, and develops and reviews Safety Department documents, procedures, manuals, and safety related procedures of other departments, for compliance with OSHA standards, yard safety rules, and safety and health regulations. Candidate must have a broad knowledge of the principles and techniques of chemistry and engineering gained through a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Safety, a related field or equivalent experience; plus a minimum of three years related experience.
